February is here, and the stores are overrun with hearts and flowers. The cats at The Cat House are pretty sure your perfect Valentine can actually be found at 3633 O St.! Come meet your match on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., or on Sundays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Our Open Hours volunteers are waiting to help you meet the feline of your dreams and start you down the path to happily ever after.
Well, maybe kitty matchmaking is not quite that colorful. But volunteers at The Cat House can definitely help you find a companion that matches up to your individual home. While some adopters are drawn to cats based on how the cats look, it is important to consider personality even more than appearance. Cats come to The Cat House from a variety of circumstances, and their background factors into how they will fit into your home.
Many of the cats in our shelter have been in environments where they may have had negative experiences with other pets or unkind humans. If you have children in your home, it’s important that they visit the shelter with you and interact with the cat that may be part of their family.
Some cats have more energy than they can constructively use, and others would fit better in a quiet home. Our volunteers are able to provide insight into each cat’s personality, as well as discuss any special food or medical needs a cat may have.
We can introduce you to our greeter kitties, the ones that meet you at the door and tell you all about their day. Some cats are great listeners and invite you to sit with them so they can sit on your lap and let you pour out your heart. If it’s exercise you need, some cats are ready and willing to play with feather wands. Still others are great hunters and will present you with their daily catch of squeaky mice and crinkly balls.
While you’re at the shelter getting to know the cats, don’t forget to check out our retail area where we have a lot to offer you and your furry friends. You can always find our tasty catnip sticks and quality pet beds, plus we have t-shirts, jewelry and many other pet-themed items for sale.
