Should Tennessee have a state dog?

(WVLT) — The Vols’ mascot, Smokey, is so prolific that one state lawmaker is trying to make Bluetick Coonhounds Tennessee’s state dog.

Rep, Bill Beck introduced the legislation this week.

The bill, HB 0999, wants to designate “the bluetick coonhound as the official state dog.”

According to the state legislature, it has passed on the first consideration.

It was sponsored by Sen. Art Swann, as well.
